Gratitude and Creativity: Drawing In Nature

Sometimes I’m lucky enough to spend time in the middle of nature doing one of my favourite things.

I love drawing lines. I’ve shared many posts where I talk about the meditative quality of opening a clean page in my sketchbook and simply drawing lines. I can get lost for hours as I fill a page with line drawings and doodles.

This summer, I’ve been spending lots of time outdoors. Although I’m unable to do active things, such as hiking or running—like I used to—I can spend time sitting outside drawing.

On days when I’ve been fortunate to be away from home—and the weather is too gorgeous to resist—I find a sunny spot in the middle of a green field where I can sit comfortably. I take a stack of my art supplies with me and I sit for ages drawing in my sketchbook.

The colours and sounds in the field and trees around me inspire my creativity, and if I could, I would spend every day doing nothing else.

I am so onboard with this! Art & craft have such an amazing healing/calming power.
I use art to help me cope with chronic illness and to just get out of my own head for a bit!
I’ve just started my own blog about my experiences with chronic illness and how I use art & craft to help me cope. I’d love to see you over there!
Either way, keep creating, keep enjoying!! T.

Thanks so for taking the time to visit & comment 🙏
Engaging with art again may be the most significant thing I’ve done to cope with the chronic pain I live with every day. Thankfully, doing art doesn’t always require a ton of effort & definitely doesn’t have to cost much. Like you, it helps me get out of my head & relaxes me.
I’ll certainly pop over to your site to see what you’ve been creating 🙂
